EYFS

Welcome to Elder Class 1 & 2 (Nursery & Reception)

Welcome to our EYFS class page. Here you can find out about what we are learning, who’s who, keep up to date with important events and see what Early Years is all about!

Here at Sedbergh Primary we have a highly skilled team of Early Years Teachers and Teaching Assistants who have a sound understanding of early child development and a great deal of experience working within this age group.

Meet the team…

At Sedbergh Primary School, the Early Years team will aim to ensure that suitable learning challenges are set by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and providing a challenging and stimulating programme of learning designed to enable all children to reach their potential. We aim to respond to the diverse learning needs of all children by recognising and being constantly aware of the needs of each individual child according to their ability and aptitude. We recognise that children learn to be strong and independent from secure relationships. We aim to develop caring, respectful, professional relationships with the children and their families. Learning should be fun and the Early Years team aim is to ensure that the learning experience takes place in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, that is safe and homely, as well as being stimulating and encouraging.

We follow the principles set out in the following three guidance documents:

Setting the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years of age – Department for Education
