Year 4 York Residential

Dear Parent,

With our trip to York only a few weeks away, I am writing to you with further details of the visit, including the timetable of activities and a suggested packing list. Please send your child with clothing appropriate for the weather. Children may bring a small amount of money, if they wish, in a named purse/wallet.

As you will see from the timetable, we are starting Thursday with registration in the classroom at 08.40.  We will then go to meet the coach at the bus park for a 09.00 departure to York.  You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch for the first day.  However, all other meals (evening meal on Thursday as well as breakfast and a packed lunch on Friday) will be provided by the Youth Hostel.  We aim to be back at Settlebeck Bus Park for 4.30pm on Friday, although depending upon traffic conditions; it could realistically be between 4.00 and 4.30pm. If we are going to be much later we will contact you on the school app.

The trip to York is a fun, activity-packed 2 days with very little time to feel homesick. However, I am aware that it may be the first time away from home for your child and you may have worries or questions that you would like to ask.  For this reason, I am proposing a short meeting on Monday 18th June at 3.35pm for any parents who would like to talk through any concerns.  Please don’t feel you have to attend if you are happy with the arrangements! If you would prefer to see me in private, please contact me to make an appointment.

Yours sincerely,

M Towe
