Year 3 Stone Age Day

Dear Parent/Carer,

Following on from our Stone Age topic, I have organised an exciting day that will take your child’s learning out of the classroom and into the great outdoors! Last year was hugely successful and the current Year 4 children still have fond memories of their day.  Tim Deighton, who is a qualified outdoor pursuit leader, will lead the day, with me assisting.  Our aim is to allow the children to experience basic human survival skills that the people in the Stone Age had to face.

The day will be on Thursday 9th May.  Your child needs to wear warm clothes, (preferably old, so it doesn’t matter if they get dirty or torn), waterproof coat/leggings (depending on the weather forecast) and boots.  They need to bring a packed lunch, with drink, as we will be outdoors throughout the normal school day. We will be back in school for normal bus times.

To enable this part of the curriculum to be engaging and interesting, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £5 to cover the cost. The school will also subsidise the experience.  Please could you bring it in a named envelope, as well as signing the consent form below.  Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Sally Davies.
