Come and look around!

The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning. When children feel emotionally safe and secure they are able to explore and find out about the place they are in and the things they can see, touch, manoeuvre or manipulate. In the EYFS the environment is described in terms of three aspects: The emotional environment, the outdoor environment, the indoor environment. These three aspects of the environment together make up the environment for play and learning in the EYFS.
At Sedbergh Primary School our vision is that all children are taught in a stimulating learning environment with high quality resources. Our Elder classroom is organised into separate areas, however, we encourage children to take their learning into all areas of the classroom and make links in their learning. Each of the areas are carefully planned and resourced in order to provide the children with many different learning opportunities in their play. Some of the areas include; a writing and phonics area, maths area, small world and construction area, reading area, role play home corner, sand and water areas, workshop and creative areas, a malleable table, investigation area and of course all of the above areas are incorporated into our outdoor classroom…
