End of term letter – Thursday 19th July

As the term comes to a close, I would like to say a big thank you to all families for working in partnership with us this academic year. Yet again, it has been a very busy 10 months or so. So much has happened and so much has been achieved. The children (and the staff) are ready for a well-earned break. Hopefully the warm, dry weather will continue into August.

Thank you to all those who supported Sedbergh Sports on Friday night. The evening was a brilliant success and that was down to the hard work and kindness of all those who supported the event. In particular, I’d like to thank Andrew and Dorthe for allowing us to use their land and all the work they put in the make the event run smoothly and safely on the day. It really is much appreciated. Thank you once again.

On the 28th July we have another fundraising event for our Big Build project. As part of Sedbergh’s Artisan Market, we are holding a Pop-Up Shop and Café in the URC Rooms on Joss Lane. We are asking parents to donate bric-a-brac, raffle prizes and nearly new clothing. Please do come along to support our efforts. On Friday 21st September, the PTFA Big Build team are holding a Garden Party, BBQ and fun dog show on Settlebeck Field. More news on this after the holidays.

Governor News – I would like to welcome Elliot Hartley to our Governing Body and at the same time say an enormous thank you and good bye to Anna Atkins who leaves our Governing Body in August. Anna has worked tirelessly on behalf of the school, supporting us through thick and thin. We will miss her expertise and diligence.

The diary is already filling up with events for next year, but the big event will be the school’s move towards mixed-aged classes in September. Naturally, all of us will be working hard in school to make the change as positive as possible for all children, especially those in Years 4, 5 and 6 who will be combining to form Oak and Beech class. Thank you, in anticipation of your support in this.

It has been a brilliant year for the school. I look forward to another year of learning and partnership in September. Remember, we re-open on Tuesday 4th September at 8.50am.
