Cross Country

Invitational Cross Country Event.

On the 13th of October, chosen athletes from the juniors went to compete at Casterton Prep. School in a cross country race and did very well.

In the under nine girls race we did extremely well with Abbie Wilson coming ninth – a couple of places behind was Jasmine Sen. Maddie Watson also did well on her debut.

The next race was the under nine boys; we also did very well. Euan Wells came 11th only a second after 10th place.

After that was the under eleven girls’ race (see separate report by Vicky and Erin).

In the under eleven boys, Adam Hall did excellently (4th place). One place in front was Caius Pennington who came a fabulous 3rd. Stanley Alan (11th),Thomas Moorhouse (18th) and Adam Sen (31st) were the three other boys to score. We finished 3rd out of 10 teams – only ten points away from victory!

Well done to all of our teams: let’s do even better next time.

Cross Country U11 Girls

This year’s Invitational Cross Country race was terrific. The course was about 1.5 miles in distance; we did one small lap, then one big lap. It was one of the best races we had run. The race course was extremely dry making it quite dangerous as you could go over on your ankle. We had to run up steep hills, through gateways and we took very tight turns. The weather was very cold and sunny though at the end it started to rain lightly.

Grace Wells was 1st Sedbergh Primary U11 girl home: she was 5th overall. Erin came 17th with a time of 11 minutes and 5 seconds. Vicky came 10th with a time of 10 minutes and 49 seconds. The team finished 4th out of 12 teams – a respectable achievement.

We thank all the Sedbergh School children and staff for helping us with numbers, directions, refreshments and much more. We give also a special thank you to the marshals who cheered us all the way round. We can’t thank you enough.
